Oak Bay Police responded to 86 calls for service between May 18 and May 24, 2026.

VEHICLE ROLLS AFTER DRIVER DISTRACTED

On May 23, 2026, at approximately 7:28 p.m., Oak Bay Police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Musgrave Street. A northbound vehicle struck a parked, unoccupied pickup truck and rolled onto its side. The 57-year-old driver was able to exit through the moonroof. Oak Bay Fire Department and BC Emergency Health Services also attended. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for assessment. Police determined the driver was distracted immediately before the collision. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene. (File 2026-1497)

STOLEN VAN RECOVERED IN OAK BAY

Oak Bay Police received a report on May 20, 2026, that a van had been stolen after being parked outside a residence on Thompson Avenue between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The owner later discovered the vehicle was missing and confirmed it had not been towed. On May 22, 2026, a member of the public reported a suspicious van parked at a residence in the 2700 block of Estevan Avenue. Officers attended and confirmed it was the stolen vehicle reported missing two days earlier. The van was recovered and examined for forensic evidence. Keys were found inside the vehicle. Oak Bay Police remind vehicle owners never to leave keys inside a vehicle, as doing so can significantly increase the risk of theft.
