The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 89 calls for service that week.
On Monday May 2, police were called to the 1700 block of Beach Dr. in regard to an audible alarm. The members found an insecure door and a search of the building did not locate anyone inside or anything out of place. There was no sign of forced entry and the Commissionaire advised that the door was propped open when he arrived. Later that morning, police received an additional report of a backpack and a bicycle associated to that address which was located nearby. Officers reattended and learned that a break and enter had occurred. While conducting this investigation, a 38 year old male was located by Saanich Police with some Apple Ipads associated to the break and enter. The male was taken into custody and charges for possession of stolen property and break and enter are being recommended. The male will appear in court in June. (OB 2022-1241)
On May 2, Police received a report of a mischief in the 1200 block of St Patrick St. The complainant reported that passenger side window of their Toyota Sienna had been smashed. Nothing was stolen from their vehicle. There are no suspect(s) in this investigation at this time. (OB 2022-1249)
On May 8, Police received a report of a mischief in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Ave. The complainant reported that their Hyundai Santa Fe was broken into. Nothing was stolen from their vehicle. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. (OB 2022-1327)
