Excessive Speed

On Monday, November 20, 2023, at approximately 7:30pm, the Oak Bay Police were conducting speed enforcement near Beach Dr and Newport Ave. A 21-year-old man was stopped for going 111 km/h in a 40 km/h zone. The driver was issued a Violation Ticket for Excessive Speed Section 148(1) MVA in the amount of $368 and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. (OB2023-3526)

On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at approximately 8:00pm, the Oak Bay Police were conducting speed enforcement in the 1000 block of Beach Dr. A 43-year-old man was stopped for going 85 km/h in a 40 km/h zone. The driver was issued a Violation Ticket for Excessive Speed Section 148(1) MVA in the amount of $368 and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. (OB2023-3551)

Follow up to OB file 2023-2753

On Friday September 8, 2023, Oak Bay Police received a complaint of a theft from unlocked lockers at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre. While Police were on scene investigating, the complainant advised her debit card was used at a nearby business. Police attended that business and staff provided a description of the person who had used the card and they had left in a taxi. Police and E-COMM dispatchers were able to work with the taxi company and the Victoria Police Department to intercept the taxi and arrest the suspect. Identification and property stolen from multiple people was located on the suspect after her arrest. Morgan BLANCH ,38-years-old, of No Fixed Address, is charged with two counts of Theft Under 5000.00 Dollars and one count of Using a Stolen Credit Card, both offences under the Criminal Code of Canada. Police would like to remind the public that securing their belongings is the best way to avoid falling victim to theft and fraud.
