Date: 2013-01-20 – Break & Enter at Oak Bay High School

Shortly after 1:00am police received a call from a concerned neighbour who heard noises coming from the gym at Oak Bay High School and also saw one of the gym doors open.  Police attended and located a group of young adults in the gymnasium playing basketball.  It appears they found an insecure door and decided to shoot some hoops.  Alcohol was involved and although criminal charges are not being sought the young adults were charged with liquor related offences.

The Oak Bay Police Department also responded to four Theft from Auto incidents (2200 blk Pacific Ave, 3500 blk Cardiff Pl, 2700 blk Dewdney Ave, and 2600 blk Lincoln Rd).   There was no sign of forced entry into any of the vehicles.  The culprit stole loose coin and also a black/gray Uppababy baby stroller.

Residents are requested to remove their valuables and secure their vehicles.

During the week the police received several calls regarding suspicious activity; however, the reports were received anywhere from 1 hour to 16 hrs later and in one incident weeks later.  It is important to report suspicious activity when it occurs to give the police a better chance of identifying the persons involved.
