On January 29th, at approximately 1:30 P.M. a male walked into a business in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Road slurring his speech and smelling of liquor. Staff reported the male and his vehicle to police. The male was later located at his residence. He was not intoxicated, but had been drinking. Charges are not being considered.
On January 29th, at approximately 4:45 P.M., police responded to a complaint of youth skateboarding down the roadway on King George Terrace from Barkley Terrace. The youth were spoken to in regards to safety concerns and were very cooperative.
On January 30th, at approximately 9:00 A.M. police responded to a report of theft from vehicle in the 3200 block of Exeter Road. Sometime between the evening of the 28th and the morning of the 29th, a car parked at the residence was broken into and the car stereo stolen.
On January 30th, at approximately 11:50 A.M. a person located a bone washed up on the beach near Beach Drive at Monterey Avenue and was concerned it was human remains. Subsequent investigation determined it was from a cow.
On January 30th at approximately 9:45 A.M. police responded to a complaint of attempted fraud that occurred over the previous two weeks. An unknown culprit on the mainland opened a bank account and attempted to link it directly with the account of the complainant. The bank blocked this attempt and notified the account holder. Later, the culprit attempted to withdraw funds from the complainant’s account via the internet, and again the bank stepped in and reversed the transaction. Police recommend that you carefully review all transactions on your accounts monthly and report all suspicious activities to their bank.
On January 30th at approximately 5:30 P.M., staff at the Oak Bay Rec Centre observed a male cut the lock off a bicycle with bolt cutters. Staff confronted the male and he left the scene on foot. The male was described as Caucasian, early 20s, approximately 5’2” in height wearing a brown jacket and jeans.
On January 31st, police responded to a report of theft from boat that occurred in the 3500 block of Ripon Road. Sometime between the afternoon of January 26th and the morning of the 27th, person(s) unknown took two 20 litre cans of gasoline from a boat moored at the marina. The cans were marked “green boat”.
On January 31st at approximately 2:00 P.M. police responded to a complaint of break and enter in the 3000 block of Upper Terrace Road that occurred sometime in the previous six hours. Items inside the house were knocked over and significant damage was done to the front window frames. Subsequent investigation determined that the furry felon was a grey squirrel that somehow entered the house and became trapped. Pest control was later brought in to deal with the intruder.
On February 1st at approximately 11:00 P.M. police stopped a motorist for speeding in the 1900 block of Oak Bay Avenue. The investigating officer determined the driver had been drinking. When the driver failed two breath tests, his driver’s licence was seized, he was issued with a 90 day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On February 2nd at approximately 1:15 P.M., police responded to a complaint of theft from vehicle in the 2500 block of Estevan Road. The owner advised that he left his vehicle parked in his driveway. Sometime between midnight and 10:30 A.M. January 1st, person(s) unknown entered the unlocked vehicle and stole two prescription inhalers.
On February 3rd, a person out walking their dog in South Oak Bay located a bank envelope containing a quantity of money. This was turned in to police. The owner of the envelope is requested to contact Oak Bay Police and describe the envelope, quantity of money and denominations.
