In the last week Oak Bay Police responded to 113 calls for service.
On January 06, 2012 three youth were confronted by three teenage males behind Oak Bay High School. The victims were threatened with pepper spray & were robbed of their personal belongings. The suspects were subsequently identified and arrested. On June 26th one of the charged youths pled guilty to the offence. Sentencing is scheduled for late July.
Overnight June 24 two vehicles on Harlow road were entered. In both instances windows were broken out of the victims vehicles. Personal property was stolen. The same evening five vehicles on Haultain and Newton streets were entered and personal property stolen.
On June 27th the owner of a boat moored at Oak Bay Marina reported someone had stolen several thousand dollars’ worth of electronics, fishing equipment, and life jackets.
On June 28th @ approximately 11 pm. a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation on St. David Street. The driver showed signs of impairment by alcohol. The driver subsequently failed an approved screening device breath test. The driver was issued a 90 day driver prohibition.
On June 30 a citizen reported a speeding driver who was also driving on the curb on Beach Drive. Police subsequently stopped the driver who showed signs of impairment. The driver who failed a breath test was issued a 90 day driving prohibition.
Canada day celebrations were relatively uneventful. Police responded to minor house party, disturbances, and intoxicated person complaints. Oak Bay Police also seconded two regular constables and two reserve constables to Victoria’s inner harbour to assist Victoria Police in this regional event.
