On July 22nd, at 4:40 pm, two women were walking along Willows Beach when a man in his 40’s stood up from where he was sitting without any clothes on. When they walked around him he began committing an indecent act by masturbating. When they looked back, the male was putting his clothes back on. The male is described as Caucasian, 40’s, with a white ball cap, dark t-shirt and unknown coloured shorts. He was last seen on the north end of the beach. Further investigation and inquiries are ongoing.
On July 22nd at approximately 10:55 pm, police were conducting a road block in the1500 block of Beach Drive. A vehicle was checked and the driver was found to have consumed liquor. The driver provided a breath sample at the roadside which registered a Warn. A second breath sample that was provided also registered a Warn. The driver was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Suspension and the vehicle was towed.
On July 24th at 9:49 pm, an Oak Bay police officer observed a speeding motorcycle northbound on Beach Drive near Glenlyon-Norfolk School that was significantly over the 40 kmh limit posted in the area. The officer activated the emergency lights and siren on their marked police cruiser to pull the motorcycle over but the rider of the motorcycle failed to stop and accelerated away from police. The police officer did not engage in a pursuit however followed the route where the motorcycle was last seen. A thorough patrol of the area located the motorcycle and rider, who had lost control and gone off the road near Cattle Point and landed in some bushes. It was determined the rider had a motorcycle Learner’s Licence with a restriction not to ride after dark. The rider was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and released the next day. Police continue to gather witness statements and Motor Vehicle Act charges are pending.
On July 25th at 12:16 pm, police responded to a report of a theft that occurred near Central Ave and St. Patrick Street. A gardener had finished mowing a lawn and left it unattended for a few minutes. When he returned, the red Toro Lawnmower was gone. No suspects identified at this time.
On July 26th, at 6:37 pm, police received a report of a fraud in the 1200 block of Beach Drive. An unknown female phoned the resident, claiming to be from Microsoft and advising that their computer had been hacked. She convinced the resident to provide a credit card number to pay for a “fix”. A small amount of money was charged to the card before it was cancelled.
