Weekly Media Release June 9-15, 2014

On June 9th at approx. 2:00 pm police attended a motor vehicle accident on Foul Bay Road at the intersection with Leighton Street. A Ford sedan was proceeding north on Foul Bay Road and came to a stop at the crosswalk by Leighton St to allow a pedestrian to cross.  A Dodge pick-up was also north bound following behind the Ford sedan. The pick-up failed to stop in time and ran into the rear of the Ford car. No injuries resulted and the driver of the pick-up was issued a violation ticket for Following Too Close.

There were five reports of thefts from vehicles that occurred on June 11th and 12th on the 2100 block of Pentland Rd, the 500 block of Hampshire Road, the 500 block of Falkland Road and the 800 block of Falkland Road. Identification was stolen from one vehicle, a $2000 camera from another, a trumpet from another, a GPS and binoculars from another and loose change from the fifth vehicle. In all cases the vehicles were left unlocked by the owners, leaving the items available for the taking.

Six more theft from autos in the same area occurred overnight on Sunday / Monday June 15/16, again from UNLOCKED vehicles. A variety of items valued at several hundred dollars was stolen.

On June 11th police received a report of a male described as Caucasian in his 50’s wearing only shorts, masturbating on the beach approx. 300 meters north of Glenlyon Norfolk School.  The complainant advised that the male did not stop this activity when the complainant walked by and that the male was watching the school children on the school grounds. The area was checked thoroughly with negative results. Police are continuing their investigation and no suspects have yet been identified.
