On March 28th, police were conducting a roadblock on Beach Drive near Windsor Rd. The officer noted an odour of marihuana coming from the vehicle. The driver performed poorly on the Standardized Field Sobriety test, and so was transported to the Oak Bay Police office where a more thorough Drug Recognition Expert test could be conducted. The results were insufficient for an impaired driving charge, however a 24-hour driving suspension was issued. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Police are reminding everyone not to leave valuables in their vehicles. Every time thieves are successful in stealing items from a vehicle, it encourages them to come back. Let’s work together to keep Oak Bay from being a destination for thieves. Remember, lock it or lose it.
