Weekly Media Release – November 3, 2015

October 30, 2015 – Oak Bay Police were conducting an impaired driving roadblock on

Foul Bay Rd by Camosun College.  At approx. 9:40 pm a car was checked that had an

odour of burned cannabis inside. The driver admitted having consumed marihuana and

turned over a small amount in a baggie to police. The driver was given a demand for a

Standard Field Sobriety Test and subsequently failed. He was issued with a 24 hour

driving suspension and his car was also impounded for 24 hours.

October 31, 2015 – An Oak Bay Police officer stopped a speeding motorist at 1:20 am on

Cadboro Bay Road and the male driver had an odour of liquor on his breath.  A roadside

breath demand was made and the driver blew a “warn” on the roadside screening device.

He was subsequently issued with a 3 day Immediate Roadside Suspension.

October 31, 2015 – An Oak Bay Police officer stopped a vehicle on Foul Bay Rd for a

traffic violation. The driver had a novice class 7 driver’s licence and was in violation of

his conditions by having four passengers in the vehicle. He had the odour of liquor on

his breath and a roadside breath demand was made.  The driver subsequently blew a

“warn” reading and received an immediate 3 day roadside suspension.  His car was

impounded for 3 days. Due to other unrelated driving matters, the driver was also

issued with a 5 month driving prohibition.

 

November 01, 2015 – Oak Bay Police stopped a car on Foul Bay Rd for a traffic

violation.  The driver, a novice class 7 driver, had the odour of liquor on his breath.

A roadside breath demand was made and the driver was subsequently issued a 24

Hour driving suspension.

This year Halloween was relatively quiet for police, police were happy to report no

serious incidents.
