During the week of September 2nd – 8th, 2013 the Oak Bay Police responded to 94 calls for assistance.
Break & Enter:
On September 6th police responded to a break and enter to a business located in the 2100 block of Oak Bay Ave. The unknown culprit smashed a portion of the window, reached in and grabbed a number of items that were within their reach from within the business.
Thefts:
On September 3rd Police received a report of a theft from a boat moored at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club. Sometime during the month of August an unknown person stole a cooler and two fuel containers from the boat. The cooler contained assorted boating gear and there was fuel in the two containers.
Sometime between 1400 hrs and 1900 hrs on September 3rd a yellow 1985 Volkswagen Westfalia van, BC Licence plate 171JFR, with a white roof was stolen from the 2000 block of Goldsmith. The vehicle has not been recovered and the investigation is ongoing. If anyone locates the vehicle please contact the local police department for the area where it is located.
A report was received on Sept 5th regarding the theft from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the 2000 block of Rattenbury Pl. An unknown culprit made off with loose change. The owner reports this is the third time in the past few months this has happened; however, this is the first time he has reported to police. He was reminded to keep his vehicle locked.
Sometime between September 3rd and 7th, an unknown culprit forcibly removed two Scotty downriggers from a boat moored at the Oak Bay Marina. Both downriggers were locked and may have been damaged during the theft.
