Tuesday, April 21st (#15-1276): A vehicle was stopped for speeding in the 2700 block of Foul Bay Road. The officer smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle. A Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted and the driver failed the tests. The driver was issued a 24 hour suspension and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Tuesday, April 21st (#15-1279): The Oak Bay Police Department received a complaint of an adult female who was passed out on the front lawn of a residence in the 1700 block of Beach Drive. The female was transported to the Sobering Centre where she was released in the morning.
Tuesday, April 21st (#15-1290): A vehicle was stopped in the 2100 block of Oak Bay Avenue because of a Motor Vehicle Act violation. The police member smelled liquor emanating from the driver. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered and the reading showed a ‘WARN” (blood alcohol concentration is between 60mg% and 99mg%). The driver was issued a 3 day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 3 days.
Wednesday, April 22nd (#15-1300): A vehicle was stopped for speeding in the 3300 block of Henderson Road (61km/hr in a 40km/hr zone). The investigating police member smelled a strong odour of liquor from the driver’s breath. The ASD was administered with a ‘FAIL’ reading. The driver was issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Thursday, April 23rd (#15-1306): A vehicle was stopped for speeding in the 1800 block of Beach Drive. A strong odour of marijuana was emanating from the interior of the vehicle. The driver admitted to recently smoking a marijuana joint. A Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted and the driver failed the tests. The driver was issued a 24 hour suspension and the vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for failing to produce his driver’s licence.
Saturday, April 25th (#15-1326): The Oak Bay Police Department received a report of a break & enter to a concession stand at one of our local parks. An undisclosed amount of money and some supplies were stolen. The Saanich Police Department Forensic Identification Section attended and they inspected the property for forensic evidence.
