Weekly News Release December 1-8, 2013

Over this past week, Oak Bay Police responded to 98 calls for service. Of those 98 service calls, there was one reported theft, one mischief to a vehicle, and one possession of a narcotic investigation. The theft complaint originated from a student at the Canadian College for Performing Arts on Elgin Rd. It appears someone entered the school and made off with a student’s wallet. The mischief to the vehicle occurred when someone egged the owner’s vehicle in the area of Brighton Ave. The narcotic investigation took place along Bowker Creek, near Armstrong when the OBPD School Resource Officer located two youths smoking marijuana while on foot patrol. No charges were laid in relation to the possession of marijuana file, and there are no suspects in the theft and mischief investigations.

The remaining calls for service included; 16 false alarms, 3 collisions (two of which were hit and runs), several parking and driving complaints, an animal (deer) complaint in which a deer had to be euthanized due to its injuries, and numerous other complaints related to assisting the public.

The “Truck Parade” also made its annual trek through Oak Bay this past weekend, and judging from the crowds and comments made by the public, a good time was had by all (even with the evening cold).
