Weekly Media Release Sept 8-15, 2013

Over this past week Oak Bay Police members responded to 106 calls for service.  Of those 106 services calls, there were 3 residential break and enters, 2 frauds, 2 assaults, and 5 thefts reported to police.  In addition, there were also a number of bylaw, animal, property, Liquor and false alarm complaints reported to police. Operation Headstart Launched

On September 3rd, 2013, the Oak Bay Police Department will launch a new, innovative program to encourage cyclists who don’t wear bike helmets because they don’t own one, to buy one in lieu of receiving a violation ticket for riding without a helmet. The report focused on crime severity statistics for the 297 communities in Canada with populations of 10,000 or more residents. Weekly Media Release

On July 25th, a male wearing a mask entered a bank in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Road. He was advised by staff to leave, which he did. Missing Person Located

On July 23rd, family reported 55 year old Wayne GERBER missing. On July 28th, Mr. GERBER attended the Oak Bay Police office after learning of the report. Oak Bay Police wish to thank the various media organizations and members of the public that fanned out the missing person report.
